Clicking Sound(?)
I decided to change out the battery on my '05 Deluxe -- no issues with the original yet, but I'm planning on an extended road trip this spring and a 5-yr old battery is just another preventable problem.
I bought a replacement from the local HD dealer yesterday and decided to do the swap this afternoon. No problems getting the old battery disconnected -- negative side first, then positive -- and removed. I set the new battery in place, connected the positive cable and then started screwing in the bolt on the negative terminal. I thought I heard a low clicking sound, stopped immediately and verified the ignition switch was OFF. I resumed tightening the negative connection and again was sure I heard a clicking sound for just a few seconds, then it stopped. I finished the installation, then turned the ignition switch on -- lights on as expected. Turned kill switch on, engine logo on speedo appeared as usual, faded as usual, and bike cranked/started right up. I shut the bike down, then rechecked everything before reinstalling seat. I cranked the bike again and went for ride, everything normal.
Maybe I was hearing something that wasn't there? If not, what could have generated that clicking sound?
