I haven't confirmed it personally but someone told me that some later tailights use the newer 3157 wedge base bulbs. which ones they are I don't know, but it would be prudent to look at yours before ordering a replacement, just in case.
One thing you need to remember, if you have or are planning on getting one of the modules that operate the rear turn signals as run, turn, brake lights. Most LED bulbs don't work very well in the 'run' mode as they often do not have the ability to operate properly at the lower voltages used in the run mode.
Unless you get LEDS that are designed to work in a dual intensity role its better to get a module that makes them work as turn/brake without the run function. Biketronics makes one called the Tailstopper. Its not cheap at about $60, but its a very effective attention getter when you hit the brakes.
You also have to be aware that changing out the turn signal bulbs for LEDS will often make them blink much faster than normal and to fix it you need an load resistor or equalizer.
