A couple months ago? And your local parts guy didn't investigate? I'm starting to see why we have a bad reputation.

 

He gave it a good try.

We looked at the 2010's on the floor and they had the valve I was looking for but not the one he stocks. We then went to the service advisor and he just looked at us and shrugged his shoulders.

 

I ordered a couple of these last December and they are not the o-ring type.

 

The mystery is officially solved. The o'ring type is not now, nor will be in the forseeable future, available at the retail level. Period. That's straight from H-D Tech Services. It's a production line part and all replacements are 44048-83's.

As for where you might actually find that style, I don't know, but it won't have a Harley part number on it.

What a learning exercise this has been. Production part only, indeed. Bah!
