Are backrests worth the invesrment, do the wives on back complain, is there a passenger seat that stops the whinning?? Lots of questions, no answers...

It looks good... but not as low or as comfortable in my opinion

Check out ebay. They seem to be running anywhere between $100-150.

I too have done the seat swap extravaganza. Went from stock Deuce seat, to a Predator (horrible), to a Badlander (better), Corbin Hollywood Solo (I liked, but woman said she hated the pad, shoulda got rid of her before the seat), to my current seat Corbin Gunfighter (I like), now I think I am gunna try a Corbin Classic solo, looks like a lil more support over the Hollywood, plus the option of the back rest...idk. I can never decide...haha

I sat on the Corbin Classic solo and really liked it. Thought it was more comfortable than the Gunfighter. However the passenger pillion is not compatible with the detachable backrest & luggage rack on a FB.

You are correct, nothing from the Deuce is compatible with the other softails. Was just stating the seats that I personally have ran on my bike for, we'll say, comparison sake.
