Default What is market value on this bike?

I need your help putting a price on a bike.

I have wanted to buy the bike for a year now ever since my buddy started talking about selling and now he is serious.

1996 Heritage Softail
Original Green / Silver two tone
CHROME EVERYTHING including brake calipers, swing arm etc.
22K Miles
McCooney Carburetor
Twisted spokes in wheels
New tires front and back with wide white walls
Beach Bars
Big Billet Front Head Light
$900.00 Polished billet Oil Cooler
Vance & Hines Shotgun style exhaust
Three seats including original, solo and Corbin
All original parts including exhaust, windshield, and bags w/ deal

The bike is almost 100% perfect with only slight wear on the console near the ignition.

The bike is a strong 9.5 on a scale of 10

He has invested around $30K in the bike and thinks it is worth $17K. I cannot pay that for it and based on what I find on eBay close they seem to be more in the $12K to $13K range. His bike is nicer than anything I have found on eBay but I think his asking price is pretty high.

Sorry I do not have a picture but trust me it is a SWEET bike. Any suggestions on valve based on this description?

Thanks

I think that $9,000.00 or less would be a fair price for one that year. I've seen em dealerships for around that price or a little less. A $900.00 dollar oil cooler? Damnit!! Tell him to put it back to stock and sell you the bike for what it's worth and he can sell all his extras he put on it on ebay.

I would say your closer than he is. It'd be a steal at 9K. What's bluebook on it?

It's really nice that he's made all of these mods to the bike, but at the end of the day, it's still a '96 Heritage (Could be the Heritage Nostalgia- only came in silver/green paint scheme). $17k is WAY too much for it- I wouldn't give more than $9k for it. NADA says that avg retail is $7965 (in stock form). I absolutely LOVE that bike...I ran across one about 4 yrs ago that was killer, but passed on it because the owner wanted $20k for it, and it had 33k miles on it.

Here's whats available on Craig's list: http://www.craiglook.com/all.html?q=...ritage+classic

Note that these bikes have NOT been sold (thats why they are still listed), and nobody sells anything on Criag's List for what it lists for.

Yes, all the add ons are nice, but they don't make the bike worth that much more. I would much rather have a stock TC88 (or for the $12-$13k you are looking at, a very nice TC96 with a 6 speed!) bike that would be 10 years newer, probably have less or the same mileage, have an endless market of accessories, and all the other benefits of a newer bike. Personally, I am not an EVO fan, but some people absolutely love them.

To me $9000 would be the absolute MAX for that bike.

That is the problem with trying to get your money out of accessories. Never happens.

you can buy a brand new bike with 2 year warranty and a bigger motor with a six speed tranny for 17k........might not be a heritage but you can turn a fatboy into one pretty cheap......tell him hell no, keep it........

You need to try and tell your buddy in the best way that he's out of his mind!! Give him exaples such as these gentleman have, and hopefully he'll come around. If not shop around and let him keep his trophy.

$17k seems way too high. Maybe he hasn't paid attention to plummeting prices over the last 3-4 years. If it is a nostalgia I personally might give a little extra for it but I think you are offering a good price at $12k and if he really needs to sell it I'd offer maybe $10,500.

Is that oil cooler made of platinum???
