Would you change paint on an Anniv. (105th) Fatboy?
I'm asking this for my S/O who has a 2008 Fatboy. He liked the bike at first, but really has his eyes set on a different paint scheme. He's wondering if he should:
1. Just paint the damn thing and screw the anniv. edition stuff
2. Sell it/trade it in for something else
Would the value be diminished if he did get a custom paint job? Does it really matter? Thanks, guys.

I'd buy new tins as well. If there's a paint set that you like on the Harley website then go for it. Custom paint not from Harley usually decreases the value of the bike. However, you're going to spend the money on the paint either way. The Harley paint sets are great!

I bought my bike in '08 as well, but intentionally didn't get the anniversary paint. Just never liked it. I'd have no reservations about painting the tins. I really don't think this would decrease the value at all. I disagree with the above poster. I think the Harley paint sets are GREATLY OVERPRICED. For what you'd pay for a Harley set you could get a complete custom paintjob and have a true 1 of a kind. And it WILL NOT decrease the value of the bike.

I did that... Still have the original tins. I was able to keep riding while The other tins were being painted, and god forbid something happens, If I need, I have a replacement.
