Well, this forum is about "The Read Between The Rides", so most people here, I would assume, are about riding. Maybe we need a trailer/rv section?

 

I thought that was a movie; 2 hogs, 1 trailer.

8,300 lbs towing capacity is just about standard for half ton full sized trucks. 5 to 7k for little trucks.

All have optional towing options. My Trundra TRD Rock Warrior had a base towing of 8,300 and has the optional 10,300 lb package which would far exceed the trailer and two bike weight substancially.

I built a HF trailer kit to haul one 900 lb bike but it could be set up to haul two cruisers without going over capacity. I have just under $500 in it.

This link below is why I would trailer my bike that far, notice I said ,"that far" Sturgis is a long way away for most of us. I would rather my truck get smashed or driven in a hail storm than my pride and joy.
Yes I have insurance on my bike, but I don't want suffer the down time and the misery of having to deal with my beloved Harley beat to shreads. An enclosed trailer would prevent my Harley any agony.

I love trucks. I love motorcycles. I love to tow trailers. I am in heaven when I am in my truck towing a motorcycle to some where.

Read you owners manual for the truck to see what weight requires trailer brakes and what weight requires a weight distribution hitch. You will find that it is much lower than you think.

The first time you are in an accident with a trailer the other peoples insurance will look at your requirements and even if the are at fault they will try to increase your % of responcibility.

The one picture is of the equalizing hitch and two sway control bars. Electric trailer brakes also on both trailer axles. This half ton truck tows the 8.5 X 20 trailer like it was on rails. Previously I had a 12,300 lb towing cap. 3/4 ram truck to do the job. I realized that I was way over what was needed. Got the Trundra for better mpg.

 

But that hailstorm happened on a Friday afternoon. You wouldn't trailer to Sturgis, then leave your bike in the trailer would you? I would like to think that at the time of that hailstorm that all the bikes there were at least out in the open, if not already on the road doing the things that being in Sturgis is all about.
