You are right. My '08 came with 8.5" bars. I've read the '09's had taller bars, but I can't find the specs either.

I want to rise a couple of inches would I be better off to go with a Handlebar Riser Kit or new bars? I realy don't want to get into changing the cables .

If you get 2" risers or 2" higher apes wouldn't the cable and wire requirements be the same?

Stock risers are about 2"... so for that statement to be true, it would be... 4" risers OR 2" higher apes

Very nice looking garage. If I had one like that I would put in a cot, 50" LED TV and a microwave wouldn't leave it.
