I have a 2008 Fatboy and got mine painted because I didn't like the logo either (got the old fatboy logo minus the fender stripes). I sent it away to Harley to be painted and they did a good job as long as you have it wet sanded. There was orange peel in the paint, but ever since I had it wetsanded it looks great.

I've got an '08 Fat Boy and I'll admit, I'm not a fan of the logo - especially when it's sitting next to my wife's Deluxe with the big fancy dancy all-chromed-out H-D logo on the tank !!! I AM a fan of the Flame Blue Pearl paint though...

My advice is to look past the logo for now -- determining if the FB is the right bike should be the bigger concern. I thought I would end up on a Heritage, but after some time on a Fat Boy, that ended up my model of choice.

Paint can always be changed. And yes, if you have a decent gun, the basic skills, and some patience, you can certainly shoot it yourself. I restored several 1950's cars and learned the fine art of base / clear urethane - each car got a little bit better. If I can do it, most anyone with a good paint gun and decent compressor can do it.

Concentrate on the bike model and worry about the paint / logo later.

I just noticed your other post on the price -- there's no way on earth they should be charging you OVER sticker price. These dealers are hurting and should be doing everything they can to earn your business.

There are plenty of dealers around and plenty of leftover 2009's -- if this particular dealer wants to hold on to prices like that, find another dealer.

To have the tank and fenders painted solid black, you're looking at probably $600 minimum, if you do the R&R.

Cheaper if you can do it yourself, or have a buddy who knows his stuff.

I agree, I love the pearl gold white on my 07, just can not stand the *** blue stripe. Just wondered what was going up in HD headquarters when they pitched this idea of painting these bikes, then YEAH Lets add a big ol STRIPE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE ha ha. I've looked into having it re-painted just minus the lovely stripe..lol
