Default How to shine my spokes again ! no Chrome ! :(

Hi Guys,
I am getting my rims/hubs PC'ed black, and since everybody here seem to advise against Chrome Spokes, I am going to keep my original Stainless Steel ones, they are 10 years old and need some love.

What do you suggest I can do to make them look better ? and restore the shine ?, I figured buying new ones is useless as they will look the same withing a few months either way .

Let me know.

A.

I'm guessing white polish, why not? Or Simichrome.

I use chrome polish , even thou they are not chrome on stainless steel spokes. I dip a shoe string in the polish and then wrap it around the spoke and work it back and forth about 2 minutes per spoke. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours per wheel to do a 60 spoke standard wheel. Be patient and take your time. When it comes time to remove the excess polish use the garden hose and rub it by hand till you don't see any more polish. Blow dry with the air hose, and then towel dry. These rims should be show ready by now. Use flat shoe strings and you will usually need about 3 or 4 to do the job. If I buy good strings 1 or 2, cheap strings 3 or 4.

Spoke brush to remove the polish with the hose will make it easier.
