Default Heritage Oil Leak

Returned my 06 Heritage with less than 3000 miles to my dealer today to repair an oil leak. The leak seems to be comming from the back of the engine, in runs down the back then across the bottem of the engine then while the bike is on the side stand drips off the case bolt on the left side. The service writer at the dealer says he has never seen a leak like this. I was just wondering has anyone had a similar leak and exactally wher was it comming from........Thanks in advance

At first I thought the case bolt on the bottem was loose, then with a mirror and a flashlite I could track the oil across the bottem of the engine case towards the rear of the motor then it appears to go up the back of the motor. I even thought the engine case was leaking, hopefully not. I will keep you posted

Don't forget to check the simple things. My bike leaked the day I got it home. Freaked me out. Turned out some idiot at the dealer had overfilled the oil.

I'm pretty sure the oil levels aare correct. At 1000 miles I switched to Screamin Eagle Syn. 3 In Engine, Trans. and Primary, doing the work myself. Thanks....

Cool.

Hope you are able to find the leak then and that it will be a simple fix.

Happy trails.

I had a similar leak, left rear side . Took it to the dealer and they fixed it under the factory warranty. Sorry I didn't find out specifics, but it was an inner seal of somekind, fairly deep into the case somewhere. They acted like it was fairly common. I have an 06 Heritage Softail with about 4500 miles when the leak started. I'll look at my service ticket at home tonight and post details if I can figure it out. It was all covered under warranty.

I checked my service ticket, its not very specific, it just says "repaired inner primary leak".
There are several o-rings, oil seals and gaskets on the ticket, looks like a pretty extensive repair to me. Job code was 4316 if that means anything to anyone. Hope this helps.
