That's how I do it. I don't change the oil based on what the calender says because even during the worst winter, I find a day to ride here or there.

I am very "religious" about this, especially here in 5 month long winter MI.

I'm with you, gonna change it as soon as the first snow hits the ground, cause after that its either snow, ice, or salt on the roads until the spring rains and I don't like any one of them.
Then I get to change it again before I do any serious riding. But I'm **** about basic maintenance and oild changes so I wouldn't take anything I say as gospel. I just look at it as cheap insurance.

I change my oil regularly, but not necessarily prior to winter storage.

Thumbs up

I live in Florida now and my Train is all I own, but when I lived up north yes I always did a pre storage oil and filter change. Pulled plugs and put a small squirt of oil in cylinders too just for added safety.

Not really religious about the oil change, but I do try to maintain a level of decorum. John

Too many days in OK are warm enough to ride during the winter. I just go by mileage. And as to STP and the like. I haven't had a MC engine apart that used it but I have had a few car engines apart that the owners used it. They were all a mess. Black, thick goo on everything. IMHO the only thing that should go in a crankcase is oil.

If shes going to bed for a few months change out the oil. I change to a inexpensive 20/50 Dino and a $3.00 Auto filter for storage and in the spring warm her up and change to full syn and HD filter, I also do a purge both times. My bike will sleep about 4 to 5 months

It's just a bike and no way I'll have it long enough to wear the engine out.

I change the oil at normal mileage intervals regardless of what season it is or whether it's going to be out of service for a month or so.
