Can you guys recommend a good torque wrench that won't break the bank? I will use it mostly on the bike.

thanks

Tough one to find quality at a price. I invested in Snap on Torque wrenches several years ago and have never regretted it. That being said, the price on Snap on tools have increased significantly. I have used Craftsman torque wrenches but have been disappointed in their quality in recent years.

I have a high end Sears Craftsman and a middle of the road Mac tool both seem to work fine and I have never had them recalibrated or checked. The reason I own two is in case one should get out of calibration it would show up. It was important to torque some of the engines mains and rods I used to do that were high performance (automobiles). If I were you I would get one of the upper end Sears Craftsman.

I've looked at craftsman and husky (home depot) as well as some others online. I've never owned one and it would really only get used a few times a year when wrenching on the bike. I've used a craftsman one of my buddies, but have read reviews saying they aren't so high quality anymore. thanks for the replies.

It's your money but for $20 each the Harbor Freight models do the same job as the $100 ones. The HD manual gives torque specs in ranges i.e. 60-80, 25-30 etc. and you don't need machine shop accuracy.

In normal maintenance on your bike the main thing a torque wrench guards against is overtightening fasteners.

+1 on the above. I have both the Snap On and Craftsman digitals and both work equally as well on the bike. I do feel the Snap On is more accurate and the one I grab for more exact work.
