Default Brake Fluid Question

Ok folks. I know you're going to recommend getting a manual. And I will.... but this evening I just bought a new/used Nightrain and the front brake feels very low on fluid and I need to get it road safe by tomorrow afternoon.

What brake fluid do I use and is it just like any other front brake reservoir where you pull off the cap, fill it up and re-seal it?

New ones use DOT 4, older ones maybe '06 back use DOT 5. Call the dealer they'll sell you the right stuff if you're lucky. Not all parts goys know what they should. My '02 uses DOT5, my '07 used Dot 4

Yeah, it's just like other front brake reservoirs. I have a 2007 Night Train and the manual says to use DOT 4 brake fluid. The manual also says the fluid level should be 1/8 inch below the gasket surface.

I can't make any comments about whether this is why your brakes feel off though...

Look on the top of the master cylinder, it should say which brake fluid to use.
