Works for me.
One suggestion would be "IF" the new light is at all fragile, in other words has plastic parts. I would give some thought to fabricating a small plate to fit underneath to deflect any rocks that the tire might kick up. That way the rocks won't be able to damage it or the wiring.

Here in Texas we dont have to have them, so its pretty much any thing you want to do.
