Help...My FXSTC 07 has a starting problem!
#12
The problem with putting in a new, more powerful, starter on a pre 2007 is it could pop the jack shaft and take some other parts with it. Starting with the TC96 the jack shaft has been eliminated. In fact you don't even need to pull the primary cover to change starters.
The solution is compression releases and I need them too.

Hi,
I also have an '07 FXSTC, and it seems to have the same problem:
Starts instantly when it's cold. I on the way to work, I stop for a paper
about 2.5 miles into my ride. When I come out of the store, it takes a lot of cranking to finally get it to start. Someone suggested opening the throttle all the way while cranking for a minute. That seemed to help a little but it may just be a perception. While I'm cranking it, it has the same smell as an engine that was "dieseling" almost like it needed to get rid of old fumes before it could start. My riding buddy said the problem would probably go away when I got a Stage I upgrade done. Well I did that: 1st generation Screamin Eagle pipes, K&N filter, and new mapping.
It runs great but has the same problem is still there. When the engine is fully warmed up, it starts fine. The Stage I is the only change that has been done to my bike. It only has 5k miles. Would that EiED (Extreme Inline Enrichment Device possible fix this problem? Thanks for listening to my rant.
