6' with 16's on my Dyna. Just finished rebuilding it so I haven't done 700 miles in a single run yet. Did a little over last 200 miles last weekend with no problems at all which kind of surprised me.
This is a good post, as I too am contemplating apes for my Deluxe. I'm around 5-10 too and can't decide what height to get. I'd like to do this myself over the winter and am afraid to make the wrong decision. What if I don't like them once installed...YIKES!

go to a dealer and test ride a bike with them on bonnie lad
I'm a fan of apes, have run them on previous bikes, and will add them to my NT before long. One thing to keep in mind is your hands going numb if your hands are higher then your shoulders. I personally like my hands to be a little below my shoulder height for this reason. It gets old shaking out your hands all the time if they're going numb.
I'm 6-01. Have 16 inch Carlinis. I like em just fine! I dont know if I could do 700 mile days, but I do know it wouldnt be the arms / apes that would be the problem. It'd be my a$$.
I had 16's on my Lowrider and rode from San Diego to Houston in 2 1/2 days, did between 500 and 600 a day. I'm 6'1" and didnt have any problems. I now have 16's on my Deluxe and love them, havent done any trips as long since then but so far so good.
