Default cam choice

I'm trying to figure out what cam to put in this winter... bike ('09 Heritage) is pretty much stock now. Adding a few other goodies this winter, and wondering if anyone can recommend some cams. Anyone know of one that gives a little more high-end? Any help would be great.

thanx

Any aftermarket cam will give a little more top end. Some will give a lot more, but at the expense of low end driveability.

First of all you need to decide what you want out of a cam. If you want stump pulling low end power you with sacrifice some mid-high end power and visa-versa. Also consider if you plan on doing any future mods. It would be a shame to spend the $$$ on a cam and later have to spend more $$$ when that cam will not work well with the new mods. Is warranty an issue? If so, you will quickly narrow the search. You will get a ton of opinions and many are just that...opinions. Take your time and do the necessary research. Happy Hunting!

need to know more of what U expect and what rpm do U want the TQ at,?

what else are U going to do. ?

What do U mean more high end, speed, rpms, or TQ.?????

Any other motor work planned??

Are U doing a stg1 at the same time..????

what goals do U have, TQ/HP ?????

I spent a couple months reading and learning so I could pick mine.
So if U want us to help U, U need to read and learn a little so U at least know what question to ask to get what U want...

IMO you can only go so big without head work. It's more of a combo than just 1 part. If you just want to do cams then don't go too big. You will get some more topend but if you do headwork then it will come alive. An engine is a big air pump, more in more out more power.

I believe if your going to do just cams and nothing else then you can get just about any bolt in cam for the 96 that has a .550 or less lift. There is a chart out there somewhere so I would do the research and look it up but I am pretty sure of that figure.

For me it's all about having the torque in the lower bands.... not to concerned with top end.

+1 , it's a whole lot more than "what cam", do you ride solo or 2 up? mountains or interstate? so many factors to consider.
