Default Mixing tire tread patterns frnt/back..go or no go

Last question on tires....learned alot from y'all so far. Just one last question:
Does anyone think going with a Metzler front tire and Elite 3 rear would cause any problems with the ride? Specifically 100/90-19 front and 240/40R-18 rear. The tread patterns are obviously different. Any input would be appreciated.

Most people say not to mix brands. Last time I got tires I got new front and rear as I was changing both. I don't think it will cause problems, but why not do them both if money is not an issue. If it is then do what you gotta do, we understand.

The metzler rear fits differently smaller than Avon or Dunlop so I was thinking metzler front and avon rear. Money is always an issue, when is it not?

I have a slightly different tread pattern front to rear. I think your dealing with a trial and error issue, so let us know how it works out. Somebody has to leap off the bridge first.

I've run different brand and pattern tires on many different bikes. I replaced the stock tire with a Metz on this bike when it wore out on the sides around 3K mi. I ran the stock rear until 5K and replaced it with another stocker. 5K is not bad service for the way I ride.

I've never had a problem mixing and matching.
BTW -- The front Metz shows very little wear after 3K.

Good to go. Thanks just ordered a front 100/90 Metzler and 240 Avon. I believe this is the same setup as what dragon is running. After some serious reading and asking a chit low o questions I feel that this combo is the best for me. Like Ruralmed stated that it will be a trial and error but I think I will be GTG. Thanks for the help and input.

most will say no, and some installers wont even do it.... mostly I think mixing radial and non radial would be what not to mix...

Metz 880 Marathon front, Dunlop 407 on rear. Zero issues but do plan on going Metz on the rear once the Dunlop is worn out.

Unless you ride on the edge all the time or race, I don't see a problem running different tire manufacturers. I have done it and it is no big deal, I think it is marketing to sell more tires.
