Default Deluxe or heritage...any recent years to avoid?

I'm trading in my sportster (1200N) this upcoming year and would like to get a Deluxe or Heritage. I always liked the Heritage, but I'm "vertically challenged", so the Deluxe may be more comfortable.

Still not sure if I'll go with a new or used bike.

Anyways, I was wondering if there are any years to avoid? Recalls, any problems etc. I don't want anything older than a 2005.

Opinions and input appreciated

Susan

Nothing that I know of. My brother has had two Heritages since 2004 with no problems. I have a nephew with a 2006 Deluxe and it's been great. I just bought a 2009 Heritage and am totally satisfied. This probably doesn't help much. Good luck with your new bike.

I looked at the 08 Deluxe and was going to add QR windshield and QR bags. The Heritage comes with the Bags and windshield so I bought it. I have been VERY happy with my decision. The deluxe is lower but the Heritage is pretty low in itself. I vote Heritage...

What year did they go from 5 to 6 speed?
What year for fuel injection?

I know some people weren't happy with the 2007 Touring bikes (running hot etc). I never heard anything bad about any of the softails.

07 was the first year for the 6 speed tranny and all Heritages had fuel injection; prior to 07 it was 5 speed and you could get fuel injection or carbed. Believe 2001 was the first year for fuel injection.
