Popping during engine braking
#11
Damn Chaz, so I shouldn't be popping even on deceleration down hills? I just picked up my tuner kit for my 07 NT from the dealer. I have a heavy breather and V&H Short staggered pipes. I should probably get the map checked, wish I had the cable to do it myself.

My 06 Standard popped like crazy on decel until I added a tiny bit of fuel to the 0% throttle columns of the Power Commander III USB Map I'm running,,,, along with Stage one D/L from the dealer and Screaming Eagle Hi Flow air cleaner with Vance & Hines BSS pipes.
I first checked for leaks as stated in the previous posts.
What worked for me was trial and error somewhat, adding a value to the 0% columns front and rear cylinder alike. I would enter a value then ride/test for decel popping,,,if it was still there I'd add a little more value/fuel. Going 2-3 values at a time. Once the decel popping went away, I would reduce the values by a factor of one at a time. Once the popping returned I would go up one value then I was good. I saved my map and for the last two and half years my bike just gurgles a bit on decel, mountains, hiway, town, doesn't matter. Gurgles. I ended up with a value of 5 (Again Both Cylinders) in the 500-1750 RPM Range---Then a value of 10 from 2000-4000 RPM Range. And this refers to the 0% THROTTLE COLUMNS ONLY,,,,so it didn't have any effect on my dyno tune.....I hope this helps.
