Default '06 Mileage

After months of looking around for a nice Heritage, I located one that is a 2006. I was a little concerned about the mileage, being at 47,000. They are asking $9,600 for it. Looks good, runs good, just not sure if I should stay away from something with that high of mileage on a 3 year old bike? Trying to make a leap in machines, but something tells me to be leary of the mileage.....

Your thoughts and advice is appreciated!

Plus any advice on a first time Heritage owner will be gladly taken!

Thanks

An 06, thats 4 yrs old and an average of 12k a yr, Why would anyone that rides call that high mileage...

I know most riders only put a couple K's a yr on their bikes but they are weekend riders..

Anyone who rides seriously can put 12k a yr easy..

The wife and I put 10k on a yr and that just with having 4-5 months of decent riding weather a yr.. If we lived south where it was warm longer we could get 15 and not go anywhere..

So IMO that is not really high mileage, just more than what the weekend warriors put on theirs

That just means that is a good bike to ride...a well maintained Heritage can get well over 100k. Ride it man!!!

Thumbs up 06 Heritage

Good afternoon. At 54 and retirement, I bought my first HD in 2006 and it is a Black-Cherry Heritage. I just turned over 10,000 miles, last week, if that tells you anything. Really enjoy the Heritage. Of all the HD's I looked at and rode it was to me the best all around bike. (Cruiser / Light Touring) What sold me was the way you "sit in" the Heritage instead of sitting on top of the bike. Handles great in the city or rolling 2-up at 70 mph down the highway. The 88 balanced engine runs flawless. No heat or transmission problems. I just do the preventative maintenance and have not had any problems at all. I just hit the starter button and RIDE. Added Saggy Bag Inserts, 2-1 Vance and Hines Pro-Pipe, Stage 1 Upgrade, (Went from 69.61 HP to 75.24 HP and from 73.42 Torque to 76.39 Torque), also added Passager Floorboards, 14" Passager Pillion and Wider Backrest.

Man that is like trade value. I would snap that up. I also love the 06's. Last year of the 88, if they didn't have it right by then they never had it right. I have two 06's and looking to get an 06 Heritage. Where did you say you located that bike? Just kidding. lol

$9600 for an 06???? If I had the bucks, I would jump on it. My 06 has 67,000 miles on it and I plan to get at least another 40K on it before I have to do anything to it, other than normal maintenance. 47,000 ain't nothin'.

Only thing you might look into is the cam chain tensioners. It's about time for them to be changed.

Just be aware that some of the money you are saving is going to go into maintenance. Things like the cam chain tensioners as stated above, the clutch plates, cables, shocks fork springs and oil, drive belt, etc will likely need to be replaced soon. That being said I have an 06 and love it. Great bike, you'll love your Heritage.

I'm about to turn 40 thou on my 08 Heritage and it's two years younger than the one you are looking at.
