Default Speed Sensor Cable

Where does the cable from the speed sensor connect? Does it have a separate connector or does it connect directly to the ECM?

On my bike (03 FB), there is a connector under the seat behind the battery box/ignition module. It is very difficult to get to from above. You should be able to trace the cable just so far along the rear fender but then the space gets real tight. I ended up letting my mech change it out.
