Be real careful you don't overtighten the plugs but especially the derby cover screws. Too tight and you might snap them off next time you try to take them out. If you don't have a torque wrench I'd just snug things down and check for leaks.

If you do these are the specs

Drain plugs: 14-21 FT lbs
Derby cover: 84-108 IN. lbs
again thanks for the great detailed advice jim......very much appreciated

1 x spectro 6 speed trans oil
4 x amsoil mcv oil
1 x k&n filter

ordered and on the way with new gasket just looking for o rings now may have to phone the dealer for that one

Glad to be able to help, been helped here myself many times.

FYI, I read recently that the o-rings are #41 and you might be able to find them in a hardware store. HD recommends replacing the derby gasket every time the cover is off but I've chanced it a few times w/o any problems. Just saying.

Check out the TECH FORUMS OIL AND OIL RELATED. There are pages and pages of posts on everything you need to know. Lots of good stuff there. As for your oil filter I'd stick with the HD filter Superpremium (5 microns).
