Default Samson Fishtail install question.

I never noticed when I put on my Samson Fishtails 2 months ago that one was hanging lower than the other. Only did it come to my attention until I was sanding down the tip traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend. I kept scraping the left one on turns. At the end of the trip one of my buddies following me said, "yeah, your left pipe hangs lower than your right". I could have sworn that there was only one way to install/hang these pipes. They attach to the frame w/ brackets just forward of the swingarm. Is one usually lower than the other? Has anyone else experienced this problem? They are installed on a 2004 FLSTC.

They should be the same. When I ahd the samson's on the end they were the same. Now that I have fashioned my own brackets for mounting the longer pipes I got, someone told me the same thing. It is hard to tell with the bike on the side stand. As far as I know the brackets are the same for both sides and there is only one way to mount those pipes you have.

There is a bit of slop in the brackets the tailpipes hang from. Mine were the same (1 lower). I loosened the pipes to the bracket, then the bracket to the frame, realigned them and tightened. It's hard to judge when the bike is on the jiffy stand, so get them close, tighten, then have someone look while you stand the bike up. It just takes a few minutes to adjust.
