Default trying to price my Heritage for sale, any feedback?

Hi everyone,

I've decided to consider selling my 2003 FLSTCI. I put up a craigslist ad recently - here's the info for reference so I don't need to retype and has pics: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...317378193.html

I think based on age, condition, mileage, etc. I'm asking a fair price but response has been zero. I realize I may need to use a more formal advertising medium, but wanted some thoughts. Is the market really bad? Is it a bad time to sell (as we are well into the season)?

Also if anyone knows great websites to post an ad, that would be welcome information.

thanks.

Bike is priced fair... Probably do $11,000-$11,800 on it.

Heres what they have been bringing on Flea-Bay:http://motors.completed.shop.ebay.co...=&_osacat=6024

Market is chit. Not your fault for sure. Would you take $11,500 today cash money? If so put the bike on multiple craigslists at your bottom bottom dollar price and take out all the no joyrides, reasonable offers, Serious folks blah, blah, blah...That all sounds shitty in this tough economy.

Your ad should be welcoming and you should have a now phone number for a now buyer. E-Mail and I'll get back to you? Make sure you are soooper extra serious? You aint selling a Luxury Home in Bel Air. You have a 7 year old Motorcycle. Make it easier to get the fvcker bought!!

I dunno anyone who is gonna take time outta the day just to come ride your 03' Heritage when they can go ride every 2010 Harley builds free of charge no questions asked with a cup of coffee or a cold soda provided betwen joyrides......Why in the hell would they wanna come joyride an old 03' Heritage??

Your bike is sweet. It will sell. Market it correctly. Put your own lowball price in the ad without adding any bullshat "I'm extra firm" or "Non-Negotiable"....Take the whole story of the dents and chips off your ad. The bike is 7 years old. Let it sell itself.

Just your very lowest lowball price without any negativity and a phone number where a guy can call you now before the dealer gets him for 20 grand!!

BTW...I would put come take it for a ride in your ad. Most serious guys will like that. Just ask the marketing gurus at Harley!! What if they advertised like you?

No test rides. Be sooper extra serious. E-Mail us and we will get back to you. Cash talks. Our bikes have a few dings. Do not make us any lowball offers. Etc..etc..

HD would have a hard time giving away a bike with that type of advertising....Kinda like you!

Not trying to bust yer' *****. Just trying to point you the right direction. 12 years of managing new car stores makes it hard to bite my tongue!!

When I put a bike up for sale I used everything possible. Cycle Trader, Craigslist, HD forum sales. Every bike I 've sold, sold by using Cycle Trader. The ad also goes on line which gives you a lot of exposure. It was $65 (I think) for an ad with pictures that you run until you sell the bike. You're going to have to be patient in this economy.

It's priced fair but also agree with Chaz. You gotta get them to the bike and it will sell itself. Leave the no low ballers and all that off the ad along with the chips here and there too. Just say excellent condition, not showroom. It has been ridden. Patience is the name of the game. CL will bring a lot of exposure for free. Cycle trader is good and there is also hd trader.com.

You are not too far off with your price. I bought the bike that is in my sig pic for $12,200 last summer. It had just under 20K miles and had the usual exhaust/AC, SERT done. I think the market has held enough for the model/year range to sell yours in the high $11's low $12's. My $.02, if you really want to sell, move it at the first offer in the your dollar ballpark. There are way more bikes available (and more coming) than buyers. I have had the best luck both finding and selling bikes using Craigslist.

Thanks everyone! And Chaz, your feedback was great - frank, honest, and it makes sense. I guess with some previous CL things it's been kind of a pain but I like your thoughts. I'm going to make the changes.

I'll also check out cycle trader. Much appreciated.

NADA price - low $9430
Average - $11785
I looked for 3 months before buying my 07 Springer. It's a buyers heaven out there, and a sellers nightmare. In the state of Texas there are 7 to 8 thousand Harleys on Craigslist alone each day and if you are willing to travel to get your bike you can really deal. Add news paper ads, word of mouth, bikes with 'for sale' in front yard and it goes up and up and up.
I believe you might get $10600 for it.
