Default The old idle speed hawg sound

My question is can you get that old blob-blob-blob-blob slow idle sound from the new fuel injected engines that could be heard from the carb models when adjusted down to low idle speed? Most of the FI engines sound like the RPM is set to high at idle. I love that old slow bang idle sound from the old harleys that sounds like an old oil pump jack engine from my child hood days.

Mine sounds much more like that since switching the cams out to the SE 203's. The twincam top end needs a faster idle as it needs more oil pressure to oil it. Yes, my bike is EFI.

Yes that is all I did. Once it is warm and I come to a stop it has a nice lope to it. I'll get a video when I get a chance.

My Grandfathers 87 Lowrider Custom (FXLRC) was set up by him to idle low, almost to the point you thought it would die (but it never did). Had upgraded cams at the time. Since he passed (RIP) Pops has added a Screamin Eagle intake and carb, but can't get the same idle out of it no matter how hard we try. Still sounds good but not the same.

The SE 211 cams in conjunction with 10:25-10:5-1 comp will absolutely give you that Blob-Blob-Blob idle. My EFI bike with 211's and 10:25-1 comp on a set of ported heads absolutely sounds like its about to die when its idling.

I'm certain that any of the serious performance cams from HQ,Woods or Andrews would do the same in conjunction with raising the compression as outlined by the grind of the cam.

I like the idle of my 211's....I know there are cams out there that would perform better on a dyno sheet and in the real world. One of the things that has kept me holding on to the 211 cams is that badass idle.......

When I change them out I'll be doing a true Hi-Lift camshaft from Woods.
