I don't know the answer but I did the same on my Deluxe with chrome rotors and installed Lyndall pads. They are supposed to be better on chrome rotors and better stopping results as well. I noticed a difference but I also installed a steel brake hose, which may have also helped.
I looked into this about a month ago and i went with Lyndall Z pads which are a softer compound than stock pads and are much better on chrome/polished rotors. My rotors started to turn a yellow tint to them which were caused by stock pads. I then changed to Lyndall Z and the yellow stopped. The guys at my local dealer told me the color change was due to hard stock pads. As for stopping power i couldn't tell a difference between the two types of pads. Good Luck....
Would running the stock brake pads on chrome rotors be a bad thing??
not a bad thing sometimes it just discolores the polish on the rotors due to too much heat. a better pad disipates the heat transfer better due to materials and increases stopping power.
