Default pipes problems on Deluxe

I just picked up my 06 Deluxea week ago and I am disgusted with the way it is running. I had Vance and Hines Long shots installed without an air cleaner upgrade. The dealer told me I might get a burp once in a while but that it should be fine if I am not too picky of a rider. He said that all downloads have been eliminated and as long as I don't install an air cleaner I should be fine. The bike has 600 miles on it and it hesitates while in low rpm and sometimes stalls out after first starting it. The dealer said that there shouldn't be any problems such as harm to the bike . Can anyone tell me otherwise? If HD will sell you a bike for $22,000 shouldn't they go out of their way to make sure a brand new bike runs properly before they hand it over to you.

You got to br kidding right, I took my 06 Deluxe out the door and she hasn't missed a bit , after 400 miles puton Vance &hines pipes , air cleaner and installed a fuel pac , the bikes runs strong as my 06 Stree glide with about 1/3 cost of the race tunner I had installed . I think maybe take the bike back and tell the dealer to get there **** together!!!!.
my two cents.

All the downloads have been eliminated. I find that hard to believe. I just had the Stage 1 download done about three weeks back. I wonder what is up with that.

The dealer told me as of May first all dowlnloads are gone because of the EPA. If they can't do it , who can? I didn't put the air cleaner on because they said as long as I don't install it , I won't need a download. The Bike doesn't run smooth. Always lagging.

The bike would have run just fine if you didn't modify it.

You can't be mad at the dealer or HD. Get a tuner or get a download, but remember that when you change the way it breathes, you have to change how the blood pumps to compensate.

I just can't believe the dealer would install the pipes without doing the air filter upgrade and the download.

Buy the power Commander and filter kit and do it yourself. It's less than an hours worth of work.

Actually my dealer recommended against the 06 download also. I then called around to some other local dealers and they said that there was a problem with "some" of the downloads. They didn't refuse to do it; but the recommended PC....and I have run PC for years so it was a no-brainer.

Just picked up my 06 Deluxe on 5/29...had V&H Big Radius put on, V&H fuel pack and SE Air Cleaner. Can't believe how wonderful it rides. 400miles and hasn't missed or spit even once. I would go back to them and ask them politely once to check it out. Like you said as much as we pay for these things, it should all be taken care of. Good luck.

Dave
