Chaps! Safety not Looks.

Chaps! Safety not Looks.
I hear an' read people 'put down' leather chaps because they don't like the way they look.
I'd wear chaps all the time if I could... but it gets too hot.
Most summer days I don't even wear my leather jacket.
every summer 'round here someone gets bad 'road rash' because they're not wearing leather. 3 days ago, a friend of mine 'wiped out' on some gravel...broke his rt. leg and took much skin of his left leg.
Ignore what others say...wear your leather for safety not looks. INCLUDING chaps.

Not sure this belongs in the Softail thread but it's good advice nonetheless. Personal protective equipment is the difference between living and dying or scarring and disfigurement.
And for all the nay sayers...its your right to choose what to and not to wear. But please stop calling them "assless" chaps. If chaps were assed they would be pants.

I have often thought about chaps......On my old lady!! With no undergarments.
Seriously tho' I dont wear em. I realize that you can never truly protect your body enough from the hazards of riding but I simply choose to live and let live....Or live and let die?
My summer riding gear consists of a pair of double knee' Dickies, Converse high tops, Biltwell lowbrow helmet and a T-shirt. I'm comfortable in the heat with that gear and its what makes me feel good.
During the winter I switch up and wear Carhartt double knee loggers pants, big heavy *** logging boots, leather jacket and try to not ride if the temp drops to far below 40.
Chaps are cool tho....Maybe I will give some a shot this winter.
