Softail Lowering Kit

Softail Lowering Kit
I know I saw a thread on this a while back, but couldn't find it again. Has anyone used the kit from J&P that doesn't require the shock to be disassembled? If so, how simple to install, and is it comparable in function to the others that require shock disassembly? Also, need to know if it will work on 2008 Deluxe. I am looking for something that it adjustable after installation and not ready to dive into the air suspension market yet. Thanks,
The J&P part number is 700-210.

Harley, I thought the Nostalgia might be the Deluxe, but wasnt sure, thanks for confirming. J&P says it will lower up to 2 1/2", but not sure if that includes the 1" already on the Deluxe, thanks for pointing that out. I may try this one out and see. I am looking to be able to adjust from stock to around 2" lower. Thanks.

That's the one I installed. You can lower your bike down to the tire-rubbing stage, if you want to. The BIGGEST aggravation was getting the shocks off, and putting them back on. Installation of the kit was simple. I just wish I'd had a giant A-frame, and could have suspended my bike so I could walk under it.
The kit itself is pretty basic. The stud is hollow in the back half (concealed in the J&P photo by the bushings), with internal and external threads. It threads on to the existing shock stud, and you use Locktite and torque it down. The bushings "sandwich" the frame tube, and the pictured nut is the adjusting nut.
I installed the kit on my bike about a year and a half ago, and have had zero issues with it. I did dab a little red fingernail polish on the studs, where they mate with the stock parts, the nut, etc, as a "slip strip", so I could peek under there with a mirror and see at a glance if anything had moved. The fingernail polish strip would be broken if that was the case.
So, for what it's worth, it works, and I recommend it. The only downside is the bike is stiff, not rigid frame stiff, but close. Some here say you can adjust it for a softer ride, but I ride solo, so I don't care.
Good luck!

Just a note, but the Deluxe wasn't available before 2005. (?) They probably mean Heritage, but this kind of aggravates me when they do it. Just a pet peeve I guess.

I know what you mean... and the catalog says it fits all softail thru 09 except Rocker so I am assuming it will work for the Deluxe...
