I use synthetic and I hit 250 and over all the time and I rarely ride in traffic.

Where and how are you measuring engine temps? 160-180 F are really low temps, especially in 100+ F weather.

yup I run Amsoil on everything. Bike, trucks he’ll even use the small engine Amsoil in my lawn mowers

I'm fairly confident you won't receive a reply from Milan. He posted that comment in 2009 and hasn't been on the forum since.

I wonder if oil coolers have improved since this thread was started nine years ago? For completeness sake, I have the Wimmer twin tube oil cooler.

Most oils start thermal break down at 280*. If your consistently running 250* and above I would seriously consider looking at your tune.. might be a bit lean or even to much timing... Also a 10 row Jagg will lower oil temps 35* (moving)...

Here is my Jagg oil cooler on my Breakout. It is barely noticeable with the black fittings and hose.

+1 on UltraCool.
From what I can tell it keeps my oil around 220-230 in the worst case.

IMO- the time an oil cooler is most beneficial is in stop and go traffic.
So if you have one without cooling fans I'm not sure the oil cooler is that effective at least when you're not moving that much.

Ultracool does not have a oil cooler for Breakout with ABS.
