Default Leaking Cases

I have 1998 FXSTC, am going on the rte66 ride June 10th, I have been trying to fix a leak I thought was primary now after more trouble shooting I believe my cases are leaking. Short of removing motor and spitting cases is there an iterim fix. I was wondering if silicone sealer around the cases at the seal would give me some down the road time. Thxs. slhome

Default RE: Leaking Cases

I tried that on an old Kxxxxxxi some years ago. It worked for a few miles. The internal pressure inside the cases was enough to blow oil by a poor sealing silicone bead. I imagine if you were to clean the cases with a degreaser, like spray on brake cleaner, you may be able to get the silicone to stick. I didn't waste my time on the Kxxxxxxi trying to get it to work. I put the thing in a shed and closed the door.
