Default Can the 'travel' on the front brake lever be adjusted?

Hey all, wondering if the travel on the front brake lever can be adjusted on an 04 Fatboy? There is a lot of slack (almost an inch) before the lever gets any pressure...its got new pads and I have bled it 3 times...Thanks,

Craig

No way to adjust it at the lever. Try bleeding it with the caliper off the bike.
Use a rag and something thinner than the rotor to hold the pads.

I have found by using a smaller item in between the pads I can get the brakes to grab earlier at the lever and eliminate that excess play.

Also watch your brake lines. Are they the factory rubber/metal/rubber ones? They like to balloon up as they get pressured up thus stealing a bit of the brake lever action.

If so toss them in favor of a stainless line. A good one.

I have found my best brake feel by bleeding with the caliper off the bike and using the really skinny hard plastic parker brand brake mine with Russell connectors at both ends. That skinny line works well and looks cool if you are doing a minimalist look? Dunno if its DOT though. Probably not!

take your calipers off and pump the lever to make the pistons come out and clean the pistons with brake cleaner also not a bad idea to take you retainer pins out and clen them also then add a bit of brake lube to them,,, not the disk brake quiet , but the lube...makes you pads and piston travel smoother...,just did this to my 07 Electra glide this morning before coming to work and WOW... like i added power brakes almost...my lever engages a lot sooner than before...
