i had a sound like the garbage bag flutter. it was the license plate to back plate acting like a wind instrument(reed). bent the plate and the sound never returned. i have also had the exhaust flutter when on concrete pavement. it was the exhaust echo. my latest noise is the gas cap rattle under 30 at steady rpm.

my guess is compression release, they are plastic now....maybe it takes 40 mph plus to push air passed the threads?

Also if the HD HP gaskets Ur using are the SE's, then yes, I have heard they have a problem of sealing, and most Wrench's won't use them cause of that.
Not much at all like a flapping sound. More like an air leak pifft, pisst sound.

I got saddle bags but they are ridged.

I highly question the gaskets but after going through 3 set's I can't imagine that's the problem.

When I replaced the gaskets I didn't notice any carbon build up beyond the outside edges of the gasket.

Hmmm,,,!

Does the compression release have anything to do with the black plastic tube that drains down at the bottom of the frame just in front of the rear fender guard?

For what it's worth, thats where the sound, sounds like it comes from.

Any help is highly valued and appreciated!

Whelp,,, I just got off the phone with my wrench and he's at a loss.

For what it's worth, this guy's been working on sleds for the better part of 25 years. He hears the noise so I'm not insane!

He removed the primary cover and didn't see anything outta whack. He checked the rear wheel bearing by spinning the rear tire and had said that he hear's nothing nor feels anything spotty. The belt was a little tight so he made an adjustment and off I go!

I made it about 30 min. on 95 south when low and behold,,, there it is again! This noise is gonna be the death of me!

I will say that at speeds above 40 mph if the bike isn't making the noise, all I have to do is pull the clutch in and let it out to produce. Then, I hear a nasty sizzle of a noise.

Anyone got anything for a fellow down on his luck with this thing???

My guy is saying ride it till it gets worse and let's look at it then rather then trying to step by step it.

time to take a passenger with a hose. they can ride and when they hear the noise they can point the hose to the sound and you will know where it is coming from and then narrow down the search, if they can find the location then put a funnel on the end of the hose.

hey guys and gals,, my first post...

did you find the problem? if not..

check to see if your drive belt is making the racket.. I had two bikes this week making a lot of noise.. mainly under a load..

spray some dry silicon on the belt just to see if it stops.. a loose belt or it being cockeyed will do it.. if you don't have silicon
try some soap and water on it for a temp fix until it dries off. either way if it's it you'll have to adjust it. I hope that helps..
