If you do decide to replace it change the cams go with an 07 and bewer screamin eagle support plate and oil pump. No headaches after that, but it does get pricy alot of special tools.
I have a 2001 95" road king. At 23,000 I am putting in gear driven cams. The mechanic said the front looked good, and rears were almost ready for a catastraphic failure. I use AMSOIL and always change oil at 3,000 or less. Good Luck
The hubby had his done on his 2005 Dyna Wide Glide at 37K. There was a bit of wear, he could have gone a little further, but not much. Did not want to risk a break down while we were out having fun.
