It's also important to tighten the front clamp bolts first then the rear's so the clamp can get a better grip on the bars to prevent a rearward move.

It's not normal but it isn't all that unusual either.

Thumbs down

Just another fine example of the service from your Stealership except this time it was before you even got the bike!

Thought that's what you're paying all that "set up" fee for, so this sorta thing is done right ...

Not good. I would bring it to the service managers attention.

I have heard of it happening to others, but Im new to bikes and not really comfortable with it happening. Luckily I was on the road my home is on, so I was going it a straight line anyways. I had to stop in front of my driveway and go in and get a hex socket to loosen the clamps so I would move the bars back up so I could turn into the driveway.

i have read a few times of this happening to others on the stock crossbones set up.
now this has happened once the chances are it will happen again as the knurled area will have been smoothed of and besides would you trust it at 60+?. there is a cheapish fix just change the risers out you can get a riser stud that will allow any riser to be fitted its only about $35 plus whatever risers you choose. i and others have on the bones and our bars are solid i kid you not bro i could swing from them. give us a shout if you want a part number ted

There are several threads in here dating back to the Crossbones release in 2008. Dealers seem to claim ignorance. I had a similar experience. Luckily they only moved about 3 inches back....mirrors were looking at the pavement while doing 70 coming down a grade on the freeway. I had mine retorqued at the dealer. Not as bad as it was but I still notice that they move. I have learned to not put too much pull on them when I go over bumps. Hoping to eliminate the problem when I replace the bars later this summer.
