Default Exhaust without stage 1 or download

I have a 05 Deuce FI and want to install Vance and Hines Short Shots Staggered. Can I just install them or do I need to do the download and stage 1? If I use the quiet baffles does this change the need for the download or stage 1?

I'm not looking for more power. I just like the look and sound of the Short Shots.

Nope, you can put on any pipes you like without doing anything to the ECM.
Just remember its the intake that determines wheather you need a download or not.
Cause no matter how good the exhaust is the intake is still going to restrict the amount of air that gets into the combustion chamber.

Exhaust and no intake is fine as everyone above posted. the baffles will not affect the need for a tuner or download, only the intake.

Default pipes

I was running Vance and hines true duels with stage one and high flow air system I had quite baffles in the pipes and it ran well. I decided I wanted more noise so I removed the quiet baffles and installed the ones that come with the pipes. My bike was now running like crap hesitation at low speed when leaving a stop light for example. I put the quiet baffles back in but removed the packing that was around them and bingo running perfect. The moral to this story is yes it can affect the way your bike runs. All you can do is install the pipes and see how it runs and take it from there but do not be surprised if it affects your performance. With the quiet baffles installed I would get more back pressure and that is what I needed in my case. the other baffles which came with the pipes were open on the end the quiet were capped off creating more back pressure

i have the hooker rebels and the stock baffles give more high end power but were crap for normal ridding. i tried the quiet baffles and the fixed the low end but robbed the high end and the sound. i found some baffles for a different model and they work great. i have more tq and hp. the baffles were only 4in long and 1 3/4 inside and they made a big difference over the quiet baffles that were 12in long and 1 3/4 wide. you can play with the baffles to find what is right for you
