To be honest, I never used any type of thread locker on drain plugs.

Pipe dope like plumbers use or teflon tape both work great.

The pipe dope is made for sealing tapered pipe threads. The threads on the drain plug are straight. The o-ring is what seals it. You can't seal straight threads.
Just put a new o-ring on every time and put a little grease on the o-ring and it will not leak.

On older pipe thread plugs the white is excellent. On the newer o ring straight threads it's not needed. Pipe threads need some form of sealant to seal propperly.

How many of you guys use this stuff?
Just replace the o-ring. Put oil on the 0-ring and plug threads torque to spec's, and I'm off with no leaks..

I call it teflon tape in a tube. I use it just for insurance. I change to o-ring every time I change fluids, but will add a dab of the teflon paste just cuz. I really don't think it is necessary, but it gives me piece of mind.
