Default GEICO says that the deluxe is a touring bike!

Active duty military and I just moved back from overseas. I called GEICO to drop a Victory Kingpin off of storage insurance and to add the 08 Deluxe I picked up overseas. First they thought I was moving back to the Dallas area and quoted me almost $700 a year. I about passed out as I was paying 300 for the Kingpin.

After some questioning why it was so so high I was told that it was due HD having a higher theft and that the Deluxe was a touring model and touring models spend more time on the road then my kingpin would! WHAT!

I was under the impression that a bagger (touring bike) needed to have a factory installed bags and maybe a windshield. I could almost agree that the Heritage may fall under a touring bike but a Deluxe... you have got to be kidding me.

After some clarification that I was not moving back to Dallas but Southern Maryland my yearly premium went back down to $300.

So if you have any contacts or friends in the GEICO organization can you educate them on the the subtly differences of a cruiser and a touring bike!!! It kills me that a large company like this would not know the difference.

Or am I wrong and HD is classing the Deluxe as a touring bike cuz my backside sure knows the difference and the Deluxe is a far cry from a Road King.

What says you all?

When I first insured my bones last November, it was a problem because the bike "didn't exist". I think it was insured as a FXSTSB for the first 6 months till they updated their database.

Start calling/writing now, maybe next year they'll get it straight.

Ya but the Deluxe came out in 04-05 right? So this is not a new bike model they should have this figured out by now! I am writing them though on this matter.

A deluxe is a Softail. The HD lines are Vrod, Sportster, Dyna, Softail and Touring. But they are right, who would want a King Pin? I liked the movie with Woody Harrelson though.

State Farm also had trouble with my VIN # and the FLSTSB class. I had to keep faxing them my title.

switch to progressive or dairyland (they know their bikes) if the others won't get a clue.

If your over 50 and an AARP Member you can get insurance through Foremost at a great price. I live in Los Angeles County, Ca and only pay $227.00 a year for full coverage with 250,000 liability and $ 500 ded on comp and collision.

wow I am still pissed a 300 cuz I know it could be cheaper if they would call it what it is a softail cruiser. At 1,300.00 I think my wife would have found me clutching my chest!
