Default Lyndall brake pads won't fit 07 Softail?

I purchased the Lyndall Z pads 7195-Z for my 07 NT and the outboard pad with the large tab is bigger than on the OEM Harley pad. I can't get this pad to seat in all the way in the caliper and when I do force both pins in they are so tight that the pad can't move on the pins. I took it out and reinstalled the OEM Harley pad and it fit fine. The improper fitment is due to the larger tab on the Lydall pad than the Harley pad. Has anybody ran into this before? It looks as though if I take the pad to work and match it to the Harley pad and grind it down it will work, but I shouldn't have to do this with a new set of pads.

Call them up. I got a set for my PM calipers that the hole was not quite big enough for the pin to slide through. I dremeled out the hole, took pics and emailed them. They gave me money back and thanked me for letting them know there was a problem.

I'm assuming your speaking of the front Brakes? on th 07 FXST/B/C they require 7196 pads on the rear.

Yes, I found this post a while back where the guy describes exactly what is wrong on mine. The original poster on the 3rd post down states

"i want to know why they have to do these minor differences in the brake pad design.. did you look at them differences? NOT a whole f'n lot.. why? who designs these things.. its f'n mission impossible one small slant on each of them.. why even bother making 2 different ones"

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...in-models.html

That is exactly what is different on mine one small slant on each pad making the outboard pads tab a bit larger on the Lyndall. I am going to take pics as suggested.

Archer you are correct and that is the problem. The sticker on the package says 00-07 Harley FT/RR and so I thought they would fit the rear. You are correct and after searching the Lyndall website I need the 7196. I hope the dealer takes them back as I did take them out of the package to try to install them and the paint is a bit scraped.

I kinda figured that, i put them on my 07 fxst. They do work great, now i use the HD pads to only stop my garage door from slamming. They work pretty good for that, too.

good news is you can save them for the front. I had the same issue as it seems harley used the 06 SE brake caliper on the rear of the 07 fatboy

tk, do you have the Lyndall parts # for the front and rear brake pads on a 07 FatBoy? I will be needing to change pads shortly and don't want to run into problems with the wrong ones.
