1st, 1k on was stock and averaged 38 or so.
Stage 1 & rush 2" dynoed, at 1k service, for 2yrs avg. 41, 39-43 usually.

At 7k, started running stronger and got better mileage.

March this yr, put in 26H cams only at 16k and re-dynoed.
Put on 500-600 miles while the Ind weather was in the 50's-60's and avg 38.5mpg.

Now it has warmed up above 80 for the last 2 days (and last 3 tanks), I got 40, then 42 riding two-up.
Today I put 146 on her solo & all highway, using 6th at 60-65mph, I got a little over 45mpg.

This is the best I have ever got on her.
Before cams If I used 6th gear mpg's went down below 40, the motor felt and sounded as going uphill (laboring)..

Best mpg's (pre Cams) always was in 5th staying between 50-55mph,
Now (with cams) she accelerates better in 6th at 65 than it used to in 5th at 55. Really makes 6th gear usable at 60 or more

So it does seem that riding in the colder weather does make close to a 10% decrease in mileage.

Stage 1 did help, but a few K's on her helps also.
If the mileage stays up then the cams didn't hurt...maybe helped mileage.
Does have a lot better power when I roll on it which if at worst is better.

I'm ok as long as I don't have to stop for gas every hour. Ride it and enjoy it. If you're happy twisting the throttle then do it and don't complain. Feed it and ride

Unless of course your carbed. Then different things are going on.
Thanks for the explanation. I knew the bike liked the warmer air but couldn't explain it. I'm not worried about mileage but like to see it go up because I am putting average of 60 miles a day on. Have a great Memorial weekend.
