You just answered your own FREAKING question. Every time you get on it, its burning FUEL!!! Keep your hand off that FREAKING THROTTLE and you'll see your mileage improve again!

Also, don't freakin' Dick with the engine if all you want is Big mileage. I've said it before and I'll probally have to say it again. Why would anyone worry about gas mileage on a friggin' Harley, that just isn't right.

I agree on the PC III improving things. with my upgrades(see sig.), I get 40mpg consistently.
MY PC III uses a canned map that the dealer found to match my engine mods....
about 25% of my riding is stop and go, the other 75% is out in the country on two lane winding roads.
I ride the FX HARD, the way it was meant to be ridden. I'm very happy with 40mpg.

Does cold weather affect mileage??
Hi,
I ride my Deluxe to work unless it's raining or wind above 30MPH. I've noticed that on the freeway at 70 my mileage in the cold (42F)morning air seems to be a lot worse than afternoons where it has warmed up to 60 or above. On a 300 mile trip last week, my first tank which started in the cold air was about 37mpg. My return trip doing the same speed in the warm air was 47mpg. Does the engine run more efficiently taking in the warmer air???
Thanks, Randy

1. Colder engine at start up so in a different cold start map and is richer then a warm day start. Also takes longer for engine to warm up and stays in cold enrichment longer.
2. Cold air is denser so more air volume at a given MAP pressure so more fuel is added.
Unless of course your carbed. Then different things are going on.

Same here. D&D Fatcat, Stage 1, PC III, K&N air filter, Headquarters Hurricane 0034 cams. Average just a little over 30-32 mpg on highway at about 70-75 mph. I know it's running a little rich, but a dyno tune would cost more than I'd save in gas. Besides, it runs and sounds as sweet as any Harley ever did. And as someone said, if you're worried about gas mileage on a Harley, you probably shouldn't be riding one.
