Default Signal Connection for an H-D Tach on '07 Deuce?

I have installed an H-D tach on my "07 Deuce. Powered it up but the tach has no signal. The papers tell me to connect to pin 3 on connector 39B (at speedometer) but after checking the wiring schematics, pin 3 doesn't connect to anything. Any suggestions?

Thx

According to my install instructions you must hook it up to the data link under the seat. Shoot me an email at tnharley@comcast.net and I will send you my instructions and maybe they will help you. Jerry

You must slide the connector from the tach into the #3 hole in the connector. There is no wire in the hole you must fill the hole. If I remember correctly there is a piece that slides out of the connector that allows you to insert and remove the pins. Hope this helps.

Your quite right about sliding the locking pin out prior to inserting the the tach connector, but pin 3 on the tach goes nowhere. Pin 2 has the serial data link and I am going to splice into that and see if I can get a signal. The ECM has a tach output on pin 3 that is not connected but that is too hard to get to.

These new speedo/tach combo's are plug and play, I thought. So running a wire back to the ECM doesn't seem right.

Thx

Thumbs up

Lifted the dash off the tank and used a small mirror to look inside the male connector on the tank. Sure enough, pin 3 is there. Looking at the connector itself, I noticed that the female pin 3, which I had initially installed, had pushed back. I pulled the locking pin out, reset the pin and locked it back down. Whamo, the tach worked.

So, the signal comes in from pin 2 and is sent out of pin 3. The service manual shows nothing on pin 3 from the speedo, but the signal is there.

Cheers!

I just finish my tach install on my 04 deuce and had the same thing happen. When you take apart speedo plug to put that pin in you realy have to make sure the pins are all the way in.
