I realize this is an 08 post (now 14), but if you want to change tank, wheels, fenders/fender struts fork, do not get a Deuce, many parts are Deuce only and you will go crazy trying to fit other model parts. I didn't know Deuces were that different, thought it was just a Softail with a different look. Come to find out it is very much it's own model.

It's true to an extent, but I hate when you see posters try and deter people from buying a Deuce because "no parts fit it." The tank is stretched and I've read but haven't researched that the frame is actually different under the tank. The rear fender is different and other than that, most parts fit without issue. I put a Softail Custom rear wheel on mine. The tank is part of what makes the bike, so although you could change it, I see a lot of people don't. Besides most of the stuff I've done is custom and haven't had an issue finding parts. The biggest hassle I have is the rear fender. I have a backrest which works ok, but I'd really prefer the quick release so I could get a taller sissy bar. The Deuce backrest bolts to the fender itself and is a pain to put on and off. When I'm rocking the Lepera Bare Bones, I have the large metal plate just sitting in the middle of my fender. I think I have come up with a solution and I'm going to have a plain leather bib made to cover it when it's off.

But otherwise, I haven't once had an issue finding parts because it's a Deuce.

Not a popular opinion but I think a Deuce looks so good stock that it is a shame to change it. I have never seen pipes that look as good as the stockers and same is true for wheels and most of the time, paint.

Some of the pictures are sharp customs, I admit, but I'll go with the stock Deuce.

The pipes were used on other Softails and look pretty bad with the taper and visible crossover.

Never owned one. But I remember the days when my Fat Boy was new in 2002. Looking through H-D's parts and accessories catalog showed a whole bunch of stuff as "except Softail Deuce".
As for the above post, looks like Figure Machine is washed up. Looks like Roland Sands Designs still has see through derby covers.

The engine is the same as any others from that era so parts that fit the 88B and for one year 96B, will fit the Deuce as well.

I don't doubt that. It makes sense to me. As far as the rest of my post that you cited, I ran Figure Machine through Google. Here's what the first hit said,

"After 7 years in the industry, Figure Machine is leaving the Motorcycle aftermarket. We thank our loyal customers, fans, and business partners for many great years bringing high quality, awesome products to the motorcycle world.

Customer service was always one of our top priorities. We will be providing technical support and customer service to our customers through the end of the year. We can be reached at the phone number and email provided below.

Thank you again for a great run, and we hope to see you out there on the road!
