putting true duals on Heritage classic

Thanks everyone for the wealth of feedback! Much appreciated.
When I got my bike, the previous owner put in a K&N air intake and had old model Screaming Eagle II slips on with NO baffles hooked up to the stock head pipe. He used an old evo bracket to mount them so there was no crossover. the bike is FI and I don't know if the person had it tuned for that set up.
Anyway, it was WAY too loud. I bought some thunder monster baffles and even with them it was too loud and didn't sound as good. So I went to Rush slip ons. But they had the exhaust crossover bungs so I needed to add the crossover. The bike sounds good and it seems to run a bit better (pipes inside aren't as black) so I assume with the crossover scavenging effect it is running a bit leaner.
Anyway, if I went the duals route I would have it tuned professionally and I'm sure I would run some sort of baffle as I like a good rumble but don't like pure open pipe volume all the time.
The heat thing gives me a little concern. Maybe I should go with some V&H big shots long pipes, but the duals with tails look freakin sweet.

I had a LSR 2-1 on my Nightster. There's a picture of it on RB Racing's Web site. Best sounding pipe I've ever heard, IMO.
