I Am Totally Lost

I ran just the slip-on mufflers on my 07' bike for a year without any problems. I noticed very little popping. However, I also noticed very little difference in performance until I added the stage 1 air cleaner and remap download this year.
If loud pipes are all you want the slip-ons will do the trick without any other adjustments. I am simply speaking from my own personal experience.

Harley Corperate claims a full stage 1 can be done to any 07 or newer efi Harley with no modifications! if your dealer tells you otherwise, they are lieing or just don't know any better.
Here is a link to a write up the AMA did on 07's . Bill Davidson says a full stage 1 with no mods.

they also claim running stock afr 14.7 to 1 will not harm the engine. maybe so but it sure is no fun to ride with that heat. point being some kind of mad to the fuel management will benefit you the rider and more important the passenger.
also did you see when the article was written? (Posted July 27, 2006) less than a month after the new model came out. sounds like sales BS to me

.... It shouldn't have to be a mystery how your particular bike is running after mods. Bikes can run different from one another. State to state, different altitudes, etc. Do the mod(s), put a fresh set of plugs and run the bike. It's that simple. Check the plug in the front cylinder. (It may take a good 50 miles or more to get a good reading with unleaded gas, ethanol, etc.) Take a new plug and compare. Bone white plugs, you're lean. Spark knock and you're really running hot.
But also remember lean is fast... You need safe lean though. A slight, slight tint on plugs is a fast bike. Good fuel mileage as well. Lot of info online on reading plugs. You don't need to do short run burst to read plugs. Short run burst and shut off testing doesn't work with unleaded fuel. Thanks to this forum for that eye opener. A plug with miles on it can tell you everything you need to know in regards to low and high speed fuel burning as well as timing and so on.
my friend.
