Tank it and get an analog stick. I think the batt only lasts a year at best.

I have the instructions. Uses a CR 2032 battery.

1 Carefully remove the flat rubber seal ring and save for reinstallation.

2 Loosen the 3 small Phillips head screws on the underside of the display body until the screw heads contact the silver colored ring on the lower assembly.

3 Gently pull the lower assembly out of the upper display body as far as it will come, then continue to alternately loosen the screws and extract the lower assembly. While being extremely careful not to strain the wiring, gently separate the upper and lower dipstick assemblies.

Note: Be careful not to disturb the thin rubber seal ring when performing the following procedures.

4 Note the battery orientation. Using a mechanics pick or a small screwdriver, carefully insert the tool under the battery near the red dot. Gently pry the battery free. Discard the battery, insert the new battery under the tabs as show and push the battery down until seated.

5 Lining up the tab on the lower assembly with the notch in the upper body, assemble the two parts, being careful not to pinch the wiring Alternately tighten the three screws while gradually seating the lower assembly, then tighten the screws securely.

6 Carefully reinstall the flat rubber seal ring.

7 Insert the dipstick into the filler neck.

8 Check for proper operation pressing the rubber button on the front face.

9 I should buy a scanner and I wouldn't have to type all this. There's a diagram but as I said I don't have a scanner.

I hope this helps you.

Sometimes the old needle pointing at numbers is the best way to go. This is one of those cases.
