Torx Size for Fender Struts?
Need to replace a rear turn signal and apparently I need to remove the fender or at least lift it up to get to the bolt in between the fender and strut. Anyway.....what size is the torx nut on the fender strut? I have read it's a 45 and a 47. Which is correct?

I was just trying to let you know that your going to need more than one size, so you might as well run up to the auto parts store and pick up a set, then your quesiton of what size you need becomes needless. Not too mention that if your like most of us, your going to need them more than once.

As you look at the fender strut cover, the rear two bolts are generally T45 and the front two under the seat are T47. I say generally because if you have added accessories or changed bolts to chrome ones, its possible they changed. Pretty sure the TS bolts are T45 but not positive. Its been a while since I touched those.
I have a backrest I take on and off frequently and I don't have the quick release kit installed. So I pull the bolts fairly often. As a result they have stripped a little. So I use a T47 for all of them.

I bought a 5 piece set from Autozone or Osh I think. 3/8 drive. Mine had 50, 47, 45, 40, and......crap, forget the last one. I also bought one of those multi-tools from Harley. Its made by someone else but its got standard HD size hex on one side and specific torx on the other; fits controls, levers, and I am pretty sure seat/strut bolts too. Mine is similar to this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m_guide:5&rd=1
Point is I think there are some out there with 45 and 47 in the same set.
