carb? ignition? what the heck?
hey guys, i have a 90 softail with a descently built evo. mild cam, port polish and .030 over. i have a mikuni 42mm carb as well.
While riding on friday i took off from a light, and when i hit third gear, my bike quit running. i tried turning it over and nothin. i was able to get it to idle with the choke on, or run and 2/3-full throttle. i notived that my idle cable had come loose so when i got the bike home i fixed that. now i cant get my bike to idle with the choke on or off. I can only get it to run at 2/3-full throttle. any ideas??? thanks in advance...

The third gear thing is probably just bad timing (not ignition, just bad luck).
You probably got a little dirt in the carb jet and its clogging things up.
My first inclination would be to pull the carb off and give it a good cleaning.
Maybe add a small in line fuel filter if it doesn't have one or changing what's in there if you do.
